Open an .ics calendar file
Got an invitation or a calendar export as an .ics file? Open it in Calendar to see what is in it before anything is added, then view the events by month, week, day or agenda.
How to do it
- Open Calendar and press Import .ics.
- Drop the .ics file on the dialog, or choose it.
- Read the preview: how many events will be added, how many are already here, and any warnings.
- Press Add to bring them in, or Cancel to leave your calendar as it was.
- Browse them in Month, Week, Day or Agenda view. Export .ics writes every event back to a file.
Your files stay on this device: Calendar runs in your browser, with no upload, no account and no watermark.
Questions
Will importing the same file twice make duplicates?
No. Events whose UID is already in your calendar are skipped, and the preview tells you how many.
What is kept from the file?
Title, start and end, location, description, time zone, reminders, and repeats by day, week, month or year. More complex repeat rules come in as a simple repeat, and the preview warns you.
Is the file uploaded?
No. The file is read in your browser and the events are stored on this device. Nothing is written until you confirm.
