Hex Editor · free, in your browser
View a file in hex
See what is really inside a file: every byte in hex with its offset, and the readable characters beside it. Large files open page by page.
How to do it
- Drop any file on the page, or choose Open.
- Scroll the offset, hex and ASCII columns; the Type line names the format from its first bytes.
- Type an offset such as 0x4D2 in the Go box to jump there.
- Search for hex bytes such as 4D 5A, or for text, and step with Next and Prev (F3).
Your files stay on this device: Hex Editor runs in your browser, with no upload, no account and no watermark.
Questions
Can I change bytes too?
Yes. Select a byte and type two hex digits. Undo and redo work, and Download saves an edited copy; the original is never overwritten.
How big a file can it open?
Large ones: the file is read 64 KB at a time as you scroll, so a 100 MB file opens without being loaded into memory whole.
Is the file uploaded?
No. It is read in your browser and stays on your device.
