Open camera RAW files online and edit them

Open a RAW photo straight from your camera in Image Editor. Set the white balance and exposure in the Develop dialog, then retouch it with layers, masks and filters.

Open Image Editor

How to do it

  1. Open the RAW file with File ▸ Open, or drop it on the page. The Develop dialog shows the camera's own preview at once.
  2. Choose the white balance (as shot, auto or daylight), the exposure (−3 to +3 EV) and the highlights (clip, blend or rebuild). The preview follows each change.
  3. Choose Open. The full-size picture is developed in sRGB, turned upright as the camera recorded it, and becomes the Background layer.
  4. Edit as usual, then export a JPG, PNG or WebP, or save a layered PSD.

Image Editor reads Canon CR2, CR3 and CRW, Nikon NEF, Sony ARW, Adobe DNG, Fujifilm RAF, Olympus ORF, Panasonic RW2, Pentax PEF, Samsung SRW, Leica RWL and Hasselblad 3FR. Use embedded preview opens the JPEG the camera stored in the file, with no download at all.

Your files stay on this device: Image Editor runs in your browser, with no upload, no account and no watermark.

Questions

What is downloaded, and when?

The RAW engine, LibRaw compiled to run in your browser (about 1.4 MB, LGPL-2.1 or CDDL-1.0). The page asks first, the first time a RAW file is developed. It is checked against its SHA-256 and kept by the browser, so it downloads once.

Are my RAW files uploaded?

No. The RAW file is read and developed in your browser, on this device. Nothing is sent to ITpris Verktyg or to anyone else.

Is the picture 16-bit?

No. Image Editor edits 8-bit pictures, so the RAW file is developed to 8-bit sRGB. Set the exposure and highlights in the Develop dialog, before the bits are reduced.

What if the engine cannot read my camera's files?

A camera newer than LibRaw 0.22.1 may not be read. Then Open falls back to the camera's embedded JPEG preview and says so.
