Turn a photo into a 3D model
An AI model estimates how far away each part of the photo is, and Image to 3D raises the picture into a textured 3D surface. Use it for a 3D effect, a scene backdrop or a quick model to build on.
How to do it
- Choose Open image… or drop a photo on the viewport.
- Add the depth model with Get more… (Depth Anything V2 Small, 27 MB) for real depth; without it, brightness is used as a rough stand-in.
- Set the Depth scale, Smoothing and Resolution, and tick Subject only (remove the background) to keep just the subject.
- Choose Show as: Height-field mesh, Point cloud or Splats, and orbit around it.
- Press Export GLB for a textured model, Export OBJ for the mesh, or Open in 3D Modeller to keep editing.
The result is a relief seen from the front, like a deep embossing of the photo: one surface with no back. It is not a full 360° model and is not ready for 3D printing without more work.
Your files stay on this device: Image to 3D runs in your browser, with no upload, no account and no watermark.
Questions
Does it make a full 3D object from one picture?
No. One photo only shows one side, so you get the front surface with depth. The hidden sides are not invented.
Which file formats can I export?
GLB with the photo as its texture (or as coloured points in the point cloud view), and OBJ with the mesh only.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The depth model and the background removal run in your browser, and the model files are stored on this device.
Why does it say the depth is a fallback?
The depth model is not installed yet. Press Get more… to add it; until then brightness is used, which is not real depth.
