Page Layout guide
Getting started with Page Layout
Page Layout is a page layout app in your browser, for flyers, zines, magazines and business cards. It exports print-ready PDFs. Nothing is uploaded.
Start a document
The first time, Page Layout opens a sample magazine, Monthly, so you can look around.
File, New from Template… (Alt+Ctrl+N) has a magazine spread, an event flyer, a business card, a zine and a blank A4 document. New Document… (Ctrl+N) lets you set the page size, the pages, the margins and the columns yourself.
Add text and pictures
- Press T for the Type Tool and drag a frame on the page, then type.
- Press F for the Rectangle Frame Tool and drag a frame for a picture. File, Place… (Ctrl+D) puts an image, a text file or a PDF page into it.
- Press V for the Selection Tool to move and resize frames. Double-click text to edit it.
- Text that does not fit shows a red plus on the frame. Click it, then click or drag another frame to let the text flow on.
Styles, pages and masters
The Paragraph Styles and Character Styles panels format text in one click, and change every use of a style at once.
The Pages panel shows every page. Add Page (Shift+Ctrl+P) adds one. Items on a master page, such as page numbers, appear on every page that uses it.
Document Setup… and Margins & Columns… in the bar at the top change the page size, the margins, the columns and the bleed.
Export a PDF
Click Export PDF… (Ctrl+E). The fonts are embedded, and you can add the bleed and crop marks for a print shop. Export PNG… (Alt+Ctrl+E) makes pictures of pages.
Save (Ctrl+S) keeps the document in Files.
