Generate a colour palette from one colour

Start from your brand colour. Colours makes its harmonies, its tints, shades and tones, and a 50 to 950 ramp, and exports the one you choose as code or a swatch file.

Generate a palette

How to do it

  1. Type your colour in the panel (HEX, RGB, HSL, OKLCH or CMYK), or pick it from a picture.
  2. Under Made from it, choose a Harmony (complementary, analogous, triadic, split complementary, tetradic, square or monochrome) and a Scale.
  3. Click Use as the palette under the row you like, or pick single colours and click Add this colour.
  4. Name the palette and choose the format under Export: CSS variables, Tailwind config, JSON, Adobe .ase or GIMP .gpl.
  5. Click Download palette, Copy code, or Save to Files….

Your files stay on this device: Colours runs in your browser, with no upload, no account and no watermark.

Questions

How is the ramp made?

The hue is kept and the lightness steps from 97% to 22% in OKLCH, with less chroma near white and black. Your colour sits at its nearest step.

Can I open the palette in Photoshop or Illustrator?

Yes. Export it as Adobe Swatch Exchange (.ase) and load it in the Swatches panel. GIMP and Inkscape read the .gpl file.

Are my palettes kept?

The palette on the page is kept in this browser. Save to Files keeps a file you can open again here.
