Email Viewer guide
Getting started with Email Viewer
Email Viewer opens email files (.eml) saved from a mail program. You can read the message, save its attachments and keep it as a PDF. The file is read in your browser and never leaves it.
Open an email
Each message opens in its own tab under the toolbar. Choose a tab to switch, and its × to close it. The same file is not opened twice.
- Drop one or more .eml files on the page.
- Or choose Open (Ctrl+O) at the top, or Open .eml files on the empty page, and pick the files.
- To look around first, choose Try it with a sample email.
Read the message
The subject is at the top, then who sent it, who it went to and when.
When an email has both an HTML body and a plain text body, use the HTML and Plain text buttons to switch. The View menu has the same choices.
Remote images are blocked: the app loads nothing from the network. If the email carries its own pictures (such as a logo), choose Show embedded images to see them.
Save the attachments
Two or more files are saved together in one ZIP named after the email.
- Scroll down to Attachments. Each file shows its name, type and size.
- Choose a file's name to preview it, or Save to download it.
- Tick some files and choose Download selected, or choose Download all.
Print the email or save it as a PDF
Convert to PDF keeps the text of the email, not its layout or pictures. Use Print, and Save as PDF in the browser's print dialog, to keep the layout.
- Choose Print to open the headers and the body in a print window. Allow pop-ups for the page if the browser asks.
- Or choose Convert to PDF, keep or untick List the attachment names at the end, and choose Save PDF.
