Convert MT940 to Excel
MT940 is the SWIFT statement many banks send to bookkeeping programs. Open it as a workbook with one row per statement line, the opening and closing balances, and a check.
How to do it
- Drop the MT940 file on the page. It is recognised from its fields (:20:, :25:, :60F:), whatever its name.
- Bank statement to Excel (XLSX) is chosen for you. Choose Convert, then Download.
- The Transactions sheet lists every :61: line of every statement in the file, with the :86: text split into text and counterparty where the bank uses the German or Dutch layout.
- The Statement sheet checks that the opening balance plus the lines equals the closing balance.

How are reversals shown?
A reversal (RC or RD) gets the sign of the money it moves and the word Reversal in the Status column.
Can I get CSV?
Yes. Choose Bank statement to CSV, or use the MT940 to CSV page.
