How it works
The text is encoded with encodeURIComponent, so spaces, slashes and ampersands are all escaped. Keep URL punctuation if you are encoding a whole address.

What is the difference between the two modes?
The default encodes everything, for values inside a query. Keep URL punctuation leaves : / ? & = alone, for whole addresses.
