GLB to OBJ converter

Some tools only take OBJ. Drop a GLB (or a .gltf with its .bin and pictures) and get an OBJ with its materials and textures beside it.

Accepts

GLB 3D model (.glb), glTF 3D model (.gltf, with its .bin and pictures). Other file types are not converted on this page.

How to convert

  1. Drop the .glb, or the .gltf together with the files it names. Each part is written in the place and pose it has in the model.
  2. The OBJ comes with an .mtl file and one PNG for each colour texture; download them together as a zip.
  3. A glTF or GLB compressed with Draco or meshoptimizer, or with KTX2 textures, needs a decoder: it is downloaded once from the ITpris Verktyg cdn, checked against its SHA-256, and kept by the browser.

Your files stay on this device. Nothing is uploaded: the conversion runs in your browser, and the file is never sent to ITpris Verktyg or to any other server.

Questions

Are animations kept?

No. OBJ has no animation, so the model is written in its first pose and the status line names the animations left out.

Do the textures come along?

Yes. Each colour texture is saved as a PNG and named in the MTL file. Other maps, such as normal maps, are not written.

Why are there several files?

OBJ keeps materials in a separate .mtl file and pictures as separate images. Keep them in the same folder.
