STL to OBJ converter
Open a 3D print in Blender, a game engine or any editor that prefers OBJ. Binary and ASCII STL are both read.
Accepts
STL 3D model (.stl, binary or ASCII). Other file types are not converted on this page.
How to convert
- Drop one or more .stl files. Binary and ASCII STL are told apart from the file itself.
- Pick the units and the up axis if you need them: STL from CAD is often Z up, while many editors use Y up.
- After converting, the status line gives the triangle and vertex counts, the size, and what the new format could not hold.
Your files stay on this device. Nothing is uploaded: the conversion runs in your browser, and the file is never sent to ITpris Verktyg or to any other server.
Questions
Will the OBJ have colours?
STL files have no materials. The OBJ gets one plain material in its .mtl file, which you can turn off.
Can I convert many STL files at once?
Yes. Drop them together and each one becomes its own OBJ; download them one by one or as a zip.
Is the shape changed?
No. The same triangles are written, with their normals, in the same place unless you chose a scale or an axis.
