PLY to STL converter

Get a scan ready for the slicer: drop a PLY mesh and download an STL.

Accepts

PLY 3D model (.ply, ASCII or binary). Other file types are not converted on this page.

How to convert

  1. Drop the .ply file. ASCII and binary PLY are both read.
  2. Choose binary or ASCII STL, and the units your slicer expects.
  3. After converting, the status line gives the triangle and vertex counts, the size, and what the new format could not hold.

Your files stay on this device. Nothing is uploaded: the conversion runs in your browser, and the file is never sent to ITpris Verktyg or to any other server.

Questions

Can it convert a point cloud?

No. STL needs triangles, so a PLY with only points is refused. Make a mesh from the points in a scanning tool first.

Are the vertex colours kept?

No. STL has no colour. Convert to PLY or GLB to keep them.

Is the mesh repaired?

No. The triangles are written as they are, so holes in the scan stay holes.
